In a few minutes I have to go and wake Nikki, my first born, and have her take her ADHD medication. Since about age 4, she has always been the problem child. We argue constantly about homework, her messy room (understatement), chores that she can never seem to remember to do and if she does, she never does all that she's supposed to. You could tell the kid the sky is blue and she would argue that it is purple. She lies, steals, picks on her baby sister constantly... but as much as she makes my life a living hell sometimes, I wouldn't give her up for the world. She saved my life, so it's all I can do to make hers the best that I can. When I found out I was pregnant things were not going so well in my life (yes, she was a surprise). I was depressed, and on a path to self-destruction. If it weren't for Nikki, I'm positive I would not be here on this earth today. Having Nikki changed everything. My life suddenly had a purpose. It wasn't about me anymore. Now, I thank God every day for giving her to me. He obviously has a sense of humor, though. I'm pretty sure my mom would say what goes around comes around.
Then there's Amber. 15 and ALL teenager. Being a step-parent is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my entire life. From string bikinis to belly button piercings, I'm surprised I haven't completely lost my mind. I'm hanging in there, though and we're going to work through this. It's a work in progress so far, but I'm learning and hopefully she is too.
Last but certainly not least, my Cammie. This kid is the sweetest, most loving (and spoiled) little girl I have ever met in my life. She makes me laugh, she squeezes my cheekies, she kisses me on every inch of my face, and absolutely makes my life complete. Frank and I have decided not to have anymore kids and that is fine by me. I couldn't ask for anything more. Happy Mother's Day to all who know exactly what I'm talking about.

O'Fallon Founder's Day Fun
Took a little trip back in time to the 19th Century today and attended O'Fallon, MO's Founder's Day. The girls (and Jeff) all had fun playing games, feeding ducks, and rolling down hills. We learned all sorts of cool stuff today: how to make a quilt, how to milk a cow (not a real one thank God), that Nikki is allergic to grass, and that, amazingly enough, ducks do not like jalepeno popper flavored cheesy poofs.
The girls had a great time and I finally got a little sun. Glad we chose to venture out today and enjoy the weather.
Here's Nikki having a try at using a flint and a rock to start a fire. Not as easy as she thought.
Milkin' ole Betsy:
There was even a story teller dressed in authentic "mountain man" garb who told us an old Indian tale about a Raccoon & a Crawfish and a story about Old Daniel Boone and his last hunt.
The girls had a great time and I finally got a little sun. Glad we chose to venture out today and enjoy the weather.
Feliz Siete de Mayo!!!
For those of you who work a 9-5 job like me and can't exactly celebrate Cinco de Mayo ON the actual day (when it happens to fall on a weekday), here's what you're having for dinner tonight.
3 med chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
shredded cheddar cheese
1 med onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 sm can of green chiles
3 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/4-1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tsp dried cilantro
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
your choice of oil
10-12 8 inch flour tortillas
Saute onions, garlic, and chiles in oil until tender and translucent. Mix spices with chicken and then fold in onion mixture. Fill tortillas with chicken mixture and shredded cheese (TIP: microwave tortilla for 15-20 seconds for easier wrapping). Deep fry chimis until golden brown. Garnish with lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, and sour cream (and a margarita, or two).
Buen provecho! :)
Welcome
Guess I'm about ten years behind the curve with this blogging stuff, huh? Well, I suppose an introduction to my blog is in order. I think it's just going to be about random stuff that comes to my mind. I don't usually like to put my business out there so it will probably end up just being silly stuff and recipes and maybe a little about my ADHD research here and there. I'll probably blog a little tipsy sometimes 'cause that's how I roll. I suppose whatever I find blog-worthy at the time (not to be confused with facebook-worthy). I am a punctuation and grammar FREAK so if you find any mistakes, please feel free to point them out and laugh at me. I love to talk about my kids, so if you get sick of hearing about them, well that's just too bad. I don't really talk about my job on the internets ('cause that's all I need is to get fired over a post). Last but not least, I think I'll apply the same rules to blogging as I do drinking. No politics, no religion, period. Hope you enjoy my blog, and if you don't, then I guess piss off. LOL :)
